About

The Affective Media Lab (AML) is a media arts-based research lab housed in the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

AML explores emotion through a media arts and interdisciplinary perspective to understand and analyze the role emotions play in systems of knowledge and power, culture and identity, and the human experience—both personal and social. AML is interested in how the intersections of technology, media arts and emotion can be a creative and critical articulation of the human subjective experience and society, and even provide new imaginaries and visions.

Pilot Year (Fall 2019/Spring 2020)

The first year of AML is a USC undergraduate student-driven project based initiative. The vision is to create a community of undergraduate student researchers and allow their interests to lead the direction of projects and research.
